Koen Deloose (Dendermonde, Belgium) moderates a three-part Vascular News series about the Luminor drug-coated balloon (DCB; iVascular) in different indications. He is joined by Tjun Tang (Singapore) and Ulf Teichgräber (Jena, Germany), with the trio providing a wealth of insight, knowledge and experience with the technology and who discuss its performance in both a range of clinical trials and a real-world setting.
Koen Deloose and Ulf Teichgräber discuss two trials which examined the safety and efficacy of the Luminor drug-coated balloon in the femoropopliteal segment—the EffPac trial and the TINTIN trial. The 3.5-year outcomes from the EffPac trial were “fantastic”, notes Teichgräber, showing 90.1% freedom from target lesion revascularisation (TLR) in the Luminor group compared to 78.1% in the plain old balloon angioplasty (POBA) group. Primary patency was 69.6% and 60% respectively. Deloose also outlines the equally “amazing” 24-month data from the TINTIN trial in high complex and long lesions
